Wild East Gippsland Photography and Nature Based Tours are a wildlife business run by Ben Williams out of the extremely diverse, East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
East Gippsland is one of the only locations left in the world where large tracts of good quality connective and uninterrupted habitat stretch from vast Coastal Saltmarsh to our highest Alpine peaks.
Ben grew up deep within the Strzelecki Ranges, close to Tarra Bulga National Park in Gippsland, Victoria. From a very young age, he spent much of his youth walking and exploring gin-clear freshwater streams, pristine Rainforest gullies and orchid filled Shrubby Dry Forests in pursuit of quiet and tranquil places. Observing Sacred Kingfishers hunt invertebrates, lizards and small fish, watching Superb Lyrebird perform their elaborate courtship displays and marvelling at giant Wedge-tailed Eagles soar effortlessly of the rising thermal currents were common encounters for Ben. These fundamental experiences instilled a deep appreciation and desire to explore further, our precious, natural world.
A Naturalist fascinated by all forms of life including Birds, Amphibians, Mammals and Insects, Ben’s true passion rests with the creatures of the night. Fast becoming one of the most reliable locators of elusive nocturnal wonders in the region, large forest Owls including Sooty Owl and Australian Masked Owl, as well as arboreal Mammals such as Southern Greater Glider and Yellow-bellied Glider are all within grasp.
Ben began Wild East Gippsland to assist all interested enthusiasts in experiencing this amazing region and what lies within, while sharing his extensive knowledge and passion throughout bespoke natural experiences.
